2013 Disney World Winter Savings

Travel dates: January 2 – March 7, 2013

Walt Disney World has released a special Winter discount, where guests can save up to 35% off of their room only reservation at select Walt Disney World resorts. This is the same discount that was released to Disney VISA cardholders last week, but is now available to everyone.

Percentage Savings:

  • Save 35% at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resorts, Boardwalk Inn, Polynesian, Grand Floridian, Animal Kingdom Lodge (standard and pool views only), Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, Boardwalk Villas, Beach Club Villas, Animal Kingdom Villas and Bay Lake Tower Villas.
  • Save 30% at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside and Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort Cabins
  • Save 25% at Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort, Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort, Disney’s Pop Century Resort, Disney’s Wilderness Lodge and the Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
  • Save 15% at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort (Family Suite Rooms)

Please note that some resorts have been excluded from the discounts, including All-Star Music, Port Orleans French Quarter and the Contemporary. Also excluded are the Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation, 3 bedroom villas and campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort.

Sample Nightly Rates:

  • Art of Animation, family suite: $214.20
  • All-Star Movies, standard room: $80.75
  • Pop Century, standard room: $71.25
  • Caribbean Beach, standard view room: $113.40
  • Port Orleans Riverside, king bed room; $130.90
  • Wilderness Lodge, standard view room: $213.00
  • Animal Kingdom Lodge, standard view room: $181.35
  • Beach Club, standard view room: $227.50
  • Polynesian, standard view room: $274.30
  • Grand Floridian, garden view room: $312.00
  • Saratoga Springs, 2 bedroom villa: $401.70

These rates are per night, and do not include the 12.5% resort tax. Weekend nights may be more expensive. Rates cover several seasons, so the rates may be higher for your travel dates than what is listed above.

Please note Disney World released two discounts this morning, this one and a Stay, Play and Dine offer. Check both discounts and go with the best one.

This offer must be booked by December 31, 2012. Not all nights or resorts may be available. At this point, it does not appear that any nights have been blacked out, but many nights around the Walt Disney World Marathon and President’s Day Weekend may be difficult to find.

Guests can book either a room only reservation or a package reservation including tickets and dining plans, though only the room portion will be discounted, tickets and dining plan will be at full rate. Availability is extremely limited, act quickly for best availability.

Why is Pop’s sample nightly rate less that ASMovies? Pop is usually ~7% higher per night than the All-Stars.

Kla – No idea, checked it three times this morning, and now four for this reply. For what it is worth, Sports is $63.75. I am still confirming those percentage numbers, could be Movies was moved to a lower discount.

OK, I was just able to use this discount on a room at the Contemporary by booking online, even though when I booked with it last week as a Disney Visa cardholder they said it didn’t apply. Very interesting….

Carrie – What were your travel dates? Which type of room at the Contemporary?

Can you please tell me how I take advantage of this discount? If I have a “saved offer” on Disney’s website for that time frame, is the discount already applied automatically or do I have to enter a code or call directly to make the reservation? Thanks so much for any info you can provide! 🙂

Melissa – With Disney, discounts are never automatically applied. You have a few options:

    1. Contact a Disney Specialist Travel Agent, they will make sure you get the best deal available for your trip, there are other discounts available that may save you more money.

    2. Call Disney directly, and book it over the phone. Make sure you ask for the discount to be applied, or it will not be.

    3. Book online at the Disney World website. If you go to the special offers page, you will see the discount, as well as a button that says “check availability now”. You click on that and then price out and book your trip.

    Best of luck!

what is the bounce back program? i have seen it mentioned in different Disney question/answer places, but never figured out what it is

Carol – A bounce back offer is an offer given to you, usually via a flyer in your Disney hotel room, while you are at Disney World. The offer is typically for some time a ways in the future, like 9 – 12 months, and you must book and pay the deposit before you check out, or do can’t do it.

Are they going to offering the free dining plan during the months of Aug,Sept. or Oct. of 2013?

Carol – Absolutely no idea. Disney does not pre-announce discounts, nor do they tell anyone at all, even cast members, that they are coming. We are assuming we will see late August/September free dining, as we have seen it every year since they announced the dining plans, but until it is actually released, it is just a guess.

For October and beyond, much less likely, and we won’t find out until this Summer, if Disney follows their historical trends.

    Will this happen for 2014?

Jen – When are you traveling in 2014? We typically see discounts during most of the year, but it is hard to say in advance what we will be seeing exactly and when.

Jen – We should see January discounts soon, probably sometime during late September.

Jen – Still not late September 😉 The current Fall deals expire late this week, it is unlikely we will see any 2014 deals until these Fall deals are gone. As soon as we have some news, it will be posted on our site.
