Disney World Play, Stay and Dine Offer

Travel dates: January 2 – March 7, 2013

Walt Disney World has released two discounts today, this Stay, Play and Dine offer, and a second room only offer. You will need to check both offers to see which is better for you.

Please note, this is NOT free dining, kids stay and play free or any other offer. There doesn’t appear to be anything included for free, just a discount on the package. According to the Disney World website, a family of four can save $633 on a 5 night/6 day stay at a moderate resort.

Discount Requirements

  • Minimum 3 night stay
  • Maximum 14 night stay
  • Minimum 1 day park pass must be included in the package
  • Dining Plan must be included in the package
  • Guests staying at a Walt Disney World value resort must purchase the Quick Service dining plan or better
  • Guests staying at a Walt Disney World moderate, deluxe or deluxe villa resort must purchase the Disney Dining plan or better

This discount excludes the Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation, 3 bedroom villas, suites and the campsites at Disney’s Fort Wilderness.

As a rule of thumb, this discount is a better deal at the value and moderate resorts, while the other room only offer is considerably better at the deluxe and deluxe villa resorts. Please check both offers.

This offer must be booked by December 31, 2012. Not all nights or resorts may be available. At this point, it does not appear that any nights have been blacked out, but many nights around the Walt Disney World Marathon and President’s Day Weekend may be difficult to find. Availability is extremely limited, act quickly for best availability.

Oh no. Does this mean free dining won’t be offered for Winter 2013? We’re currently booked at the Little Mermaid for a week in Jan and were really relying on the free dining offer. We are really looking forward to staying at Little Mermaid so changing to a different value resort is not an option.

    WC,
I wouldn’t count on getting any discounts for the new Little Mermaid rooms at Art of Animation.

WC – Correct. We have seen a PIN code for free dining for these same dates, but as Brian said, the Little Mermaid rooms are excluded. They have been excluded from every discount made available since they opened, and they probably will be for some time.

    Hi Keith,
Assuming with fingers crossed…that disney puts out a discount that would cover the early part of June, when would that typically be released? And I have noticed they often exclude BC villas….I hope that is not the case!

Heather – I am not expecting the next round of discounts (ones that would cover May and June) until early next year. These current deals run through 12/31, and Disney usually does not overlap deals.

It isn’t that Beach Club Villas are excluded (they aren’t), it is just that they are a timeshare, and are usually booked up long in advance by owners, so only a few rooms make it to the public. If you are lucky, you can find them. I have found Boardwalk Villas are easier to find with discounts. You can usually find Animal Kingdom Villas and of course Saratoga Springs and Old Key West.

Great Keith thanks! I understand about the villas…it seems to come down to what you would rather have…your first choice or the discount! I know BC is very popular! Stayed at OKW….loved it!!!! But would like to be closer to the parks with 3 small kids!

Heather – If you can’t get BCV, consider Boardwalk, same neighborhood, just as close to the parks, and I actually like the rooms better. The pool isn’t as nice, especially if you are afraid of clowns, but a great option.

Why does it exclude Art of animation? It’s just new…

Angela – The Little Mermaid rooms have been extremely popular, and are selling out at full rate, so Disney has and will continue to exclude them from discounts until that changes. The family suites are included in this and other discounts.

Is there a link I am supposed to click? Sorry, I got here by Googling because someone at Disney is apparently paying for an Adwords or similar advertisement with a non-working link that is several hundred characters. So, I actually saw an ad for this offer, ad doesn’t work, went looking for it. Is there a special code or link or anything or do I just go to the main Disney World site to see these offers?

Greg – You can either contact a Disney travel agency (we love Mouseketrips!), or you can call Disney directly. You can try checking on the Disney World website, but their discounts are not always right out in front. There are two discounts for the same dates, contact a travel agent, they can price out both for you to make sure you get the best deal.

are there usually any discounts ( free dining or room) for october? planing 10/18-27th
    thanks

Debbie – Yes, there are almost always discounts for October. They have offered free dining the last few years, but in 2011 and 2012, the dates were very, very limited, just a few days here or there. We probably won’t see those discount until this Summer.

We got offered kids play and stay last october through email. Do you know if they will be offering this again in 2013. Thanks

for 2013 does anyone know when Disney will do a free dining plan package?

April – Nope, no idea. Disney World rarely follows a pattern year to year, it is always a surprise when a discount is released. I think the Kids Free draws a lot of people, whether it is a good deal or not, it sounds good. That makes me think we will see it again at some point.

Phil – For 2013, it is likely we will see free dining for late August and September, since we have seen it every year since the dining plans were announced. I am less sure we will see it for any other months.
