2010 Disney World Dining Plans

August 2, 2009 by MouseMisers 64 Comments

Walt Disney World has announced 2010 rates, including small changes to their dining plans. Please find below a quick overview of all the available dining plans for Walt Disney World along with a downloadable brochure for each with more in depth information.

Update 1/4/2010 – New brochures were released today with updated restaurant listings, should be last update for 2010. All restaurants from 2009 are now included, including Teppan Edo, Yak and Yeti and Wolfgang Puck. Updated brochures are available from the links below.

Update 5/3/10 – Disney is currently offering the Disney Dining plan free! Travel dates of August 15 – October 2, 2010.

Update 7/6/10 – Disney extended the free Disney Dining offer for travel through December 21, 2010. Many dates are blacked out, so check carefully!

Update 8/7/10 – Information on 2011 Walt Disney Dining Plans has been released!

Quick Service Dining Plan

New for 2009, this plan has only changed slightly for 2010. The Quick Service dining plan appears to be a fantastic option for park guests who don’t want to be tied to eating at a sit down restaurant each day.

The Quick Service Dining Plan includes, per person, per night of your stay:

  • Two counter service meals
  • Two snacks
  • One refillable resort mug

The cost of the Quick Service dining plan is $31.99 per night per adult (10 and older), and $9.99 per child (3 – 9).

Brochure: Disney World Quick Service Dining Plan

Disney Dining Plan

Not much has changed from the Disney Dining plan of 2009, except a small increase in price. Disney has also added the appetizer back, but only for kids 3 – 9.

The Disney Dining Plan includes, per person, per night of your stay:

  • One table service meal
  • One counter service meal
  • One snack

Please note gratuities are not included on the table service meals. Table service meals can also be used for signature restaurants, dinner shows, private dining or pizza delivery (these typically run 2 table service meals per person). More information can be found in the brochure.

The cost of the Disney dining plan is $41.99 to $47.99 per night per adult (10 and older), and $11.99 to $12.99 per child (3 – 9). The Disney Dining plan is priced based on your travel dates, and is higher priced during the following peak times:

  • February 12 – April 10, 2010
  • June 4 – August 14, 2010
  • December 17 – 31, 2010

It appears as though the cost of the dining plan is based on the day you check in, so if you check in one a date when the Dining plan is the cheaper price, and your vacation carries over into one of the higher priced times, you will pay the lower price for your entire stay.

Brochure: Disney Dining Plan

Disney Deluxe Dining Plan

Again, nothing has changed from the Deluxe Dining Plan of 2009, with the exception of a small price increase.

The Disney Deluxe Dining Plan includes, per person, per night of your stay:

  • Three meals, which can be used for either counter service or table service meals
  • Two snacks
  • One resort refillable mug

The policy is the same for table service meals on the deluxe dining plan (gratuities not included, can be used for signature restaurants, etc.). If you use the meal credits towards table service meals, your meal will also include an appetizer for each person, in addition to the entree, dessert and drink.

The cost of the Disney Deluxe dining plan is $71.99 per night per adult (10 and older), and $20.99 per child (3 – 9).

Magic Your Way Premium Package

Again, very little has changed with the premium package, it now includes:

  • Breakfast, lunch and dinner, plus two snacks, per person, per night. Available 100 Walt Disney World restaurants (includes tax but not gratuities, unless otherwise noted). More information is found in the brochure below
  • One resort refillable mug per person
  • Unlimited selected recreation, including Golf, Miniature Golf, Water Sports, Archery, Tennis, Guided Fishing Excursions, Cane Pole Fishing, Horseback Trail Rides, Pony Rides, Carriage Rides, Horse-Drawn Wagon Rides, Bike Rental and Watercraft Rental. Some restrictions may apply and advance reservations may be required, and are suggested. More information is found in the brochure
  • One admission per person to Cirque du Soliel La Nouba
  • Unlimited use of Disney Children’s Activity Centers
  • Unlimited admission to selected theme park tours
  • Preferred fireworks viewing areas for Wishes at the Magic Kingdom and IllumiNations at Epcot. ( Advance reservations are required at least 24 hours in advance and voucher is required.)
  • One portrait session and photo package with professions PhotoPass professionals

The cost of the Premium package is $164 per night per adult (10 and older), and $114 per child (3 – 9). That is in addition to the standard cost of a Magic Your Way package.

Brochure: Magic Your Way Premium Package

Magic Your Way Platinum Package

Similar to the premium package above, the Platinum package is the ultimate in luxury. It includes everything the premium offers, plus:

  • One Disney’s Photopass CD
  • Private in-room child care (4 hour minimum, 6 hour maximum, gratuity is not included)
  • One selected spa treatment per person
  • Fireworks cruise (one per reservation, everyone on your reservation is included)
  • Reserved seating at Fantasmic! (one per person)
  • Nightly turn-down service
  • Personalized pre-arrival itinerary planning
  • Richard Petty Drive along experience
  • Exclusive keepsake (one per room)

The cost of the Platinum package is $220 per night per adult (10 and older), and $154 per child (3 – 9). That is in addition to the standard cost of a Magic Your Way package.

Brochure: Magic Your Way Platinum Package

Disney Wine and Dine Plan

The Wine and Dine plan is available to add to any of the above dining plan options, with the exception of the Quick Service dining plan. The Wine and Dine option includes one bottle of wine per night of your stay, and can be used at most table service and signature service restaurants in Walt Disney World. The cost is $39.99 per night of your stay (price is per reservation, not per person).

Brochure: Disney Wine and Dine

For all of the packages above, there are a few things to remember:

  • Everyone in your room must be on the same dining plan/package
  • Dining plan credits expire at midnight the day you check out
  • Dining plan credits are based on the number of nights you stay
  • Dining plan credits and park passes are not transferable

Please note, as you look at the brochures, many of the restaurants that will be included for 2010 are not currently listed on the brochures. This happens every year, as the agreements and contracts for non-Disney restaurants are negotiated every year when it comes to inclusion in the dining plans. As 2010 approaches, more restaurants will be included, and the list should be similar to 2009.

Very interesting, I had not noticed that. I wonder if it is a typo, or they are still working on contracts with those restaurants? It is excluded on all the current 2010 brochures. I know they are still working on deals with many of the Epcot restaurants, that may be the case for Coronado Springs. They will be done by the end of the year for sure.

Just found your site. It looks like it is filled with great information and even better are the prompt and knowledgeable responses you make to posted questions. Thanks so much!
My boyfriend and I went to WDW last year just after Labor Day, stayed for 7+ days at the POP Century and got the free DDP. We learned a lot from doing that were we doing the same thing again this year (if the free DDP is offered, which we are guessing will probably happen).
This year, however, we have been invited to go with friends who are DVC members, for about 5 days. We were previously considering getting the Annual Pass and then going the second half of September this year and then the first half of September the following year. We may still do that but are wondering if we can do anything clever to be able to get the free DDP if it is offered while we are doing the DVC stay? We were planning on staying a couple additional days with MYW at the POP, and could do one before and one after the DVC, or both before or both after, if it could open any options for us. (Any suggestions of additional savings opportunity ideas would be appreciated.)

If you are staying at a DVC resort using DVC points, you can purchase any of the three dining plans. You must call DVC and have them add it to your reservation prior to check in, you cannot do it once you arrive at WDW.

If you just happen to be a DVC member, and staying elsewhere, you cannot purchase the dining plans.

You can still add it, but you must do it ASAP. You cannot do it upon arrival, and I believe they require at least 48 hours notice. If you booked through Disney directly, you must call them, or your travel agent. You will need to pay for the dining plan now.

    Hi,
You guys are great. I am agonizing over whether or not to get the DDP vs the DP. I am traveling in July and will be at WDW for 7 days. We plan to eat at the California Grille, The Backyard BBQ and the Hoop Dee Doo Review which all cost 2 meals. I am trying to have the least amount of out of pocket. If I am planning on also doing at least 3 character breakfasts, I figured the DDP would be the most practical, but could I be better off paying everything oop? I am a DVC associate member, so I think I get the deluxe dining plan at the rate of $42 a day. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

I am assuming DDP = Deluxe Dining Plan and DP = Disney Dining Plan. The Deluxe Dining plan is $72 per adult 10 and older year round, and $21 per child 3 – 9. In July, the Disney Dining plan will be $47 per adult and $13 for kids. Going with the Disney Dining plan, you already have 9 table service meals, so you would be paying for probably Hoop Dee Doo out of pocket, and any other table service meals you have during your trip. I guess your choice will depend on how many other table service meals you plan on doing. If the answer is none, do the Disney DIning plan, if you have several more planned, then do the deluxe plan. For most people, the Disney Dining plan is optimal, the deluxe is just hard to make work unless you are doing a lot of the signature restaurants/dinner shows.

The only way to do any of the dining plans is to purchase a Magic Your Way package that includes your Disney resort, park passes and the dining plans. You cannot purchase just the dining plans separately.

Tip – I’ve been trying to figure out why the rate is $47/day for adults for Plus dining plan but if you book it online while you book the rest of your vacation package, it still shows up as the standard price. Just spoke with the folks at WDW Dine and they said it must be a glitch with the website. If you are thinking of going during the peak time, try and see if you can still get the discounted rate online – for our family, the slight difference in price for 7 days would have saved us well over $100. Not much, but the increase in price for us almost makes it a wash when compared to just paying for each meal – especially since I wouldn’t be charged 18% tip for wine, etc.

What day are you checking in? The cost of your dining plan depends on which day you check in, so if you check in during the cheaper rate time, it is cheaper for your entire stay.

You can do the dining plans staying in DVC resorts on points, however, Disney requires that everyone in the room be on the same dining plan, so you would not be able to do it just for 2 people, it is all or nothing. DVC members do not get a discount on the dining plans, they pay the same amount as any resort guest.

Yes, you can use your Tables and Wonderland discount on non-included items at participating restaurants. Make sure you present your card before hand, and notify the waiter/waitress of your intent.

The dining plan does not include gratuities, so you would need to pay somewhere near the 18% no matter what.

There are no free dining plan discounts available, and there will not be for May. Most people are hoping to see it released for the late August/September time frame.

The only discount currently available is the May – August Room Only/Package discount, that is going to give you your best deal.

I would suggest you book it as soon as you are ready, no need to wait. Figure out your dates and where you want to stay, and get it booked. You can apply any future discount to your reservation, so it is silly to wait.

I know how you feel, we have a son that is now 15 who would happily eat a kids meal each day. With Disney, you are supposed to provide real ages, and pay based on their ages, you can’t get pay for a kids dining plan for anyone 10 and older. You kind of have three choices:

    1. Just pay out of pocket for meals
    2. Do the dining plan, and list your kids as younger than they are (probably not suggested)
    3. Do the dining plan and pay for your kids as they are

Based on what you said, I might suggest just paying out of pocket for meals, if your 10 year old is not going to eat his/her meals, you aren’t going to get the value out of the plan.

I realize now I should have called in and specified I was on the dining plan and wanted to use my credits. I don’t want to cancel my table and rebook (I might lose the table); will WDW refund my credit card and use the dining credits if I ask at check-in at the the show? Neeka – For 2010, the military deals expire September 30, so they are currently not available for December travel dates. No idea if they will be extending them or not, but at this point, it looks unlikely.

      2010 Armed Forces Salute Tickets

For 2009, they ran through Christmas, but the last date you could use them was December 23, if extended, I would expect something similar this year. I would look at other ticket options if I were you.

I’ve been searching websites for our vacation at WDW at the end of OCT. 2010. The Disney sight will not give us the option for the disney dinning plan of our choice, along with another sight. This is the first time i’ve seen them not let you pick what you want for dinning options. How will I know what i am getting?

Jennifer – I would suggest you contact a travel agency that does Disney only, they will be able to make sure you get exactly what you want and most likely at a cheaper price than anywhere else. Our sponsor Mouseketrips is great, give them a try.

We are going to disney in November and got the free quick service dining plan. I was wondering if we can combine quick service meals to eat at a table service restaurant. We would just like to do it one night, so we didn’t get the disney dining plan. Thanks.

Timi – No, you cannot. The quick service credits can only be used for quick service meals, and cannot be combined for something else. If you want to do a table service meal, you will need to just pay for that plan. I might look at upgrading to the Disney Dining plan, the cost increase is small, I personally think that plan is a much better deal.

We checking at Disney all-star movie resort Monday September 27th. We booked our room though a friend who is a part time cast member swell as the tickets. Already paid for both. Is it possible to add the dining plan? If not is there a way (and would it be cheaper) to do the package through disney this closet our arrival and receive the free plan (if it is still free)?

Kelly – the only way to get the dining plans is to purchase it as part of a Magic Your Way package, you cannot add them onto your reservation, due to how it was booked. At this point, free dining for September has expired, and is no longer available, so you should stick with what you have. Next time you travel, make sure you check publicly available discounts first before booking, they are often considerably better than cast member deals.

Yadira – Disney World no ha emitido aún ninguna disposición de Diciembre, que probablemente no serán liberados por unos meses más.

    Keith,

I saw on a e-mail that they had a free dining plan for dates ending on the 19th of november but now they have back it up to the 17th. Should Disney honor what they had on the Internet.

Kay – Yes, a few days ago Disney adjusted the available travel dates. Unfortunately, if you didn’t book while they were available, you won’t be able to get the deal now unless you change your dates.
