Hi Keith,- I have a dilemma, lol- I booked in Jan for travel dates of 5/3-5/12, and I obviously “missed” the free dining offer presented in the fall,- I usually take this trip yearly, but this year it was complicated by our kids college schedule.PLUS we will be FIVE ppl instead of four…the bill is astronomical.. (We’re staying at Ft. wilderness)- (I apologize in advance for the length but its a slightly complicated issue…)
SO,- here my 2 questions: 1: do you think it would be economical if one of us bought an annual pass and re-booked? would that slim down our room rates? -or MAYBE even qualify us for a “surprise” “late” 2nd free dining offer? (I have my trip booked now with 4-day base ticks for 5adults, and the Disney dining plan-(the plan after quick service)…
    AND, -Question#2 –
I recall a recent yr. when Disney presented the offer for free (for April/May dates) TWICE within a 12month period,-(I think a lot of ppl were complaining because they missed the 1st offer in the prior fall time),-so they surprisingly offered it AGAIN a mere 2-3weeks (I think) before my travel dates of mid-April & luckily we got it!!!) do you think that’s possible again this yr?-(those of us in NNJ got destroyed by Sandy-& FEMA isn’t,-ahem- helping “everyone” plus, I actually lost my $200 dep. because I was due to travel around those dates & with all the chaos and loss of services I couldn’t contact Disney for (or anyone) for weeks!!! But they were a bit “unsympathetic” to the situation…Anyway,- can u locate in your info the actual dates when Disney did that 2nd offering?(I cannot find it) and do you think I’ll get lucky again this year?- THANK YOU for reading this loooong msg.,& for taking the time to help me!!! You are a GODSEND among Disney sites!!!

Danielle – Wow, where to start. First off, there has not been a free dining offer for 2013, so you haven’t missed anything. I really, really doubt we will see anything for May though.

    1. Probably not. Please note that you only need to have one annual pass in order to get the discount, no reason to buy more than you need. However, even though there is an AP discount now for your dates, there will be a general public discount made available at some time, and they are usually pretty close to the same discount, sometimes better. At this point, just wait and see what Disney releases.

    2. Not impossible, just not probable. I really doubt at this point, we will see free dining for May, we did not see it available in May for 2012. There was a 6 day period in 2011 that it was made available, May 27 – June 2, 2011. Other than that, I do not remember it being offered in May at all. So, no, not likely at all. Very likely we will see some other sort of discount, but at this point, I just don’t know what it may be.
