Unfortunately, the Free Disney Dining offer expired back in June. Even then, DVC members were not eligible. To get the free dining, you had to have a package that included your resort and park passes, which does not work for DVC members staying on points.

We are DVC members and have annual passes. Do we qualify for the free dining plan? We will be there Sept 24-28 2008.

Extremely unlikely. They have never extended it before, and it has been very popular this year. What I do expect is a secondary discount, not free dining, that would cover more dates in August and September. It should be released after the free dining has expired, so keep checking back for updates.

Do you think they may extend the free dining beyond Sept. 20? I plan on going Sept. 26.

I would find another agent. There are value resorts available, your agent didn't even bother to look.

It is true the night of the 28th is sold out, but only for 5 night stays, if you look for 14 night stays (possibly shorter), there are rooms available. Disney holds the last few rooms for longer stays, they would rather sell those last rooms to guests staying 14 nights than those staying 5 nights. You just have to know how to fool the system a little bit.

Keith this is the latest email i just rec'd after asking her to try the suggestions listed above....
PS We are wanting to check on Sunday, August 24 and leave Friday, August 29th and will need 2 rooms for 5 people at the value resorts. Is my current travel agents info more limited than yours?? LOL

Hi Melissa,

I know this is confusing, but to get free dining you would need to add a minimum 1-day ticket, so you would be paying over $77 for a park ticket to get free dining at a $38 adult/$10 child credit. So it is not cost-effective that is why I priced just a room-only reservation.

For 8/28 All Star Sports is COMPLETELY SOLD OUT, that is why we can't get the final night there, again I am hoping for a cancel & that we will be able to add it down the road.

Yes it is true if you check-in on the last night of the promotion you retain the offer for your entire stay.

Great idea email:
Again I'm sorry but NO VALUE Resorts are available for the entire 14 nights. Even for your 5 nights that you want the only thing available is Caribbean Beach, no values.

We have a 2-week hold on both your 4-night package & your 1-night stay, I will check daily for a cancellation to add your last night onto your package reservation.

Thanks for the note, sorry about the bad news. Here is what you need to do:

1. Write your TA back, have them book the rooms for 8/24 for 14 nights each, I am showing both Sports and Music available.

2. Have the TA hang up and call back and cancel the last 10 nights off of the reservation, giving you the nights you wanted in the first place.

3. Pay the deposits as soon as that is done, so you don't forget and lose the rooms (they will not be available in 2 weeks, I can promise you that).

4. Ask your TA why you have to do their work for them. ;)

Let me know how it goes.

Ok, I am trying to book for free dining and just got the following email from my travel agent...apparently, our last night is not available for the free dining, for some reason?? and its on August 28! <I>:

Hello Melissa,

WOW things are changing quickly. We have now lost availability on 8/28, but this is what I have worked out.

8/24-28 2 rooms at All Star Sports with the free dining & 5-Day PH & WPF&M tickets, the price is:
Your family =$-----

THEN what I have done is got a room-only reservation for each of you at All Star Movies, the rate per room is $92.66. I know this will involve having to do a room/resort move for your last night & NOT having free dining for that night, but it is the best I could do at this time.

I can continue to watch & hopefully a cancellation will come in & we can add the 28th onto your package,
You really will not incur any additional charge you would just have the inconvenience of moving resorts & you would lose the dining credits for your last day.

ANY SUGGESTIONS??

Keith:

Thank you. I am glad it will not expire. I understand that they are for one day, one park. Is there a set dollar amount they are worth if I decide to use them toward the purchase of an annual pass? I was told $75.62 for each of us. Thank you again, your help is greatly appreciated.

You don't technically have a credit. When you check in, each of you will receive a one day park pass (they will be associated with your room keys, same piece of plastic). Just make sure you do not use those park passes to get into the parks. If you do not use them, they will not expire, and you will be able to use the cost of the one day park pass towards the renewal/purchase of your seasonal passes. Just remember to keep them in a safe place, do not throw away your room keys once you check out, you will need to hand those over when you renew your passes.
